It took more than ten years to clear the
Amphitheatre and remove the 15-metre thick layer of
earth, which was covering the theatre. Òhe spectators' seats
were amphitheatrically shaped and divided into two rings
of 14 rows each.
Most probably the theatre had a capacity of 7000 spectators
at the most. The names of the respective city quarters were
chiselled on the benches in each sector. Simply everyone
had to seat where he belonged. |

two-level stage exhibits the architectural and decorative
wealth of the building; top –quality materials and the
artistic working unambiguously show the tremendous social
importance attached to
the city theatre.
